College-ing is not easy. So today I am giving you 18 life hacks that will literally save your life.
Dry shampoo is key.
For those days when you just don’t have time to shower, or you have a meeting right after the gym, invest in a solid dry shampoo.
Pasta, eggs and bananas are your best friends.
You can buy pasta, eggs and bananas for under $7.
Invest in a nice water bottle and keep it on you at all times.
Water saves lives in college. Keep your skin clear, yourself hydrated and cure your hangover before it begins all with some nice, fresh aqua.
Keep empty plastic water bottles.
We’ve all done it: we take a nice water bottle to the pregame and leave it there. Start collecting empty plastic water bottles to carry your mixies in.
Dryer sheets are multi purpose.
Rub them on the inside of your shirts if you run out of perfume, put them in your gym shoes, rub it on the top of your hair lightly to help static…the opportunities are literally endless.
Because AC is way too expensive and they do the job.
Attach your key to your bra when you go out.
If you have the little circle on your straps, like this bra, use that to attach your key so you are sure to never lose your house key.
Use citation generators.
Never EVER forget to cite your sources! Because there are multiple citation styles professors will require (APA, MLA, Chicago Style) just plug your info into a citation generator to make sure your reference page is always on point.
You’ve probably seen ads for Slugbooks and brushed it off as spam. But IT ACTUALLY WORKS! You simply type in your books ISBN # and Slugbooks pulls up the cheapest options from all over the Internet. You’re not actually ordering from Slugbooks, it’s simply a tool to find your textbook in the cheapest place possible.
Having an agenda is essential.
College students juggle a lot at once. Find a cute agenda where you can organize all aspects of life so you never forget an assignment, or miss a meeting ever again.
Take advantage of student discounts.
Student discounts are everywhere. Ask in restaurants, retail stores, convenience stores. The worst thing they will tell you is “No.” One of my favorite student discounts is Spotify. Students get Spotify for $5 per month PLUS a free Hulu account. Talk about hooking it up.
Make your bed every morning.
This one may seem strange, but making your bed is going to increase your productivity and get your day going. Plus it makes your room 20 times cleaner.
Get some kind of scent bug or candle for your room.
Maybe it’s just me, but I am OBSESSED with making my room smell good. I get these air freshening gels that last for about three weeks and make your room smell AMAZING. And they’re only $1 from Walmart so that’s kinda cool, too.
Download Google Photos.
In college you take pictures 24/7 that you will want to keep forever. And nothing is worse than getting the “Storage Almost Full” notification on your phone. Download Google Photos (it’s free) and simply sync your entire camera roll into it. Google Photos gives you unlimited space and once the pictures are downloaded, you can delete them from your camera roll. You can access your Google Photos off of any device with Internet.
White Christmas lights make any space look cute.
The key to making your apartment or bedroom look cute and girly? Buy some white Christmas lights. (Consider an extension cord, too depending on how many outlets you have).
Keep the DayQuil and NyQuil stocked.
6 days out of 7 you’ll be sick in college. DayQuil and Nyquil save lives.
Have a deodorant you keep at home and one you keep in your bag.
As a college girl, I am always on the go. Sometimes I will go upwards of 12 hours without being home once. So I keep an extra deodorant in my bag to refresh every so often.
Always make sure your toilet paper is stocked.
Because nothing is worse than being in the bathroom and realizing the roll is gone and there aren’t any back ups under the sink. Keep an eye on the TP, ladies.
